Dr. Eden Evins, Altimate Health’s Chief Medical Advisor and Founding Director of MGH’s Center for Addiction Medicine and Harvard Medical School Professor of Psychiatry, has won the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s Scientific Research Award for her work on smoking cessation and reducing cardiovascular risk in people with serious mental illness. The Award was established in 2013 to recognize the work of researchers who move our scientific understanding and treatment of mental illness forward.
At the virtual award ceremony held on October 6, 2021, Dr. Gail Daumit, co-award winner and friend of Dr. Evins, praised Dr. Evins for “[changing] the way that we think – that people with mental health conditions should not be excluded from smoking cessation treatment studies or smoking cessation treatment.”
